Expat Packages In Singapore And Hong Kong Getting Worse, Survey Shows

A survey by human resource consultancy ECA International revealed that the value of pay and benefits packages of expats in Singapore and Hong Kong continued to drop last year, according to Bloomberg.

The results of the survey – based on data from 290 companies across the globe with over 10,000 international employees – showed that the average annual package for middle managers in Singapore has fallen 6% to US$235,500 over the past five years, and the typical package for Hong Kong expats has shrunk by 2% to US$265,500 over the same time period.

Japan emerged as the country with the most generous expat packages in the Asia-Pacific region, with an average of US$367,500, followed by mainland China, with an average of US$282,500.
