Ripple prices jumped nearly 15% to US$2.22 per coin on news that US money transfer company MoneyGram will partner with the Ripple blockchain firm to facilitate payments using Ripple’s XRP cryptocurrency, according to CNBC.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said that by utilising Ripple’s XRP, MoneyGram would be able to “move money as quickly as information.”
“Money transfer companies are incredibly important because they help people get money to their friends and loved ones. The inefficiencies of global payments don’t just affect banks, they also affect institutions like MoneyGram,” he added.
