There’s been a plethora of activity in celebrity home investments in the US throughout this summer. We take a look into their homes and discover how savvy of property investors they really are.

The famous John Launter 1968 “Stevens’ House” has been purchased by actor Edward Norton for US$11.8 million. Located in Malibu Colony, one of the prime residential neighbourhoods in Southern California, this unique property features 3,366 square feet of wood and concrete built to resemble waves.
The celebrity-popular community is gated and offers the perfect lifestyle for those who want a low-key escape from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. With five-bedrooms and five-bathrooms, Norton will have plenty of room for entertaining family and friends. And when the Italian Job actor fancies a cool down in the chilly waters of the Pacific Ocean, a short walk is all that stands in his way as the home sits on 37-feet of sandy beach. Stevens’ House last changed hands in 2007 for US$13.8 million, a considerable US$2 million more than today’s price tag. Two years later, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Staying in Malibu for our next property, Gregory J. Bonann has put his Las Flores Beach, Baywatch-inspired coastal mansion on the market. As co-creater of the famous lifeguard-lifestyle television program, it’s only fitting that the 7,841-square-foot property be located right on the beach. In typical Malibu style, it features four floors and idyllic sunset views. What sets this four-bedroom, four-bathroom home apart is its exposed wood ceilings and hardwood floors throughout, as well as a built-in sand garden with a grotto spa. The estate originally featured an additional property, though this was sold in 2012 for US$5.25 million and now, only the main home is for sale. The property was purchased by Bonann in 1992 for a mere US$835,000. Not a bad 25-year investment.

Meg Ryan sold her New York City loft for a staggering US$9.85 million this summer. Located in Soho, the 4,100 square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom home went for US$1.05 million more than she bought it for. Having a keen eye for detail, Ryan chose interior designer Monique Gibson to completely redo the loft’s interior, which led to the home being featured in Architectural Digest.
The interior plays on a nice blend of dark and light fixtures. Large black French doors and glass windows allow a lot of light to flow through the living space. However, our favourite room is the master bathroom, which is surrounded in tiles and has a free-standing tub as its centre piece.
Where is she off to next? That would be the now-famous 443 Greenwich Street in Tribeca, where the Sleepless in Seattle actress purchased a nearly US$9.4 million, three-bedroom apartment.
Rebel Wilson also joins Meg Ryan and nearly every other celebrity on the planet with her recent US$2.95 million purchase at 443 Greenwich Street in NYC. Like the rest of her fellow Hollywood starlets, Wilson has nabbed her two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment for quite a steal considering that, according to StreetEasy, the original asking price was US$3.99 million.
Built in 1882, 443 Greenwich Street was previously a book bindery that has now been meticulously converted into the ultimate luxury property in Tribeca. Wilson’s NYC home is 1,343 square feet and situated in a building that boasts a host of amenities, including a gated entrance with underground valet parking, a secret garden, lap pool, roof deck, fitness centre, and a whole lot of storage for everything from wine to bikes. With so much to offer, we doubt Wilson will want to leave 443 Greenwich Street when she’s calling the Big Apple home.
The Game of Thrones star recently put her five-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom, mid-century Sherman Oaks home up for sale. The approximately 2,992-square-foot property was fully remodelled by the actress after she moved into the home in 2014. The stylish abode features an open-plan kitchen and gorgeous oak flooring that was reclaimed and arranged in a herringbone pattern. The backyard has its very own saltwater swimming pool, outdoor shower and plenty of entertaining space, perfect for soaking up the Southern California sunshine. While the front entrance is gated to provide an extra level of privacy and security. Headey purchased the home for US$790,000. While her remodelling costs have not been revealed, it seems she’s due to make a sizeable return on investment.
